The Cast

Eve - Vicki Arnold
Henry - Alan Payn
Mary - Charlotte Moore
Celia - Jill Dady
Perky (Colonel Sir Piers Marchbanks) - Roger Blackman
Catherine (Kit) - Susan Pickles

Henry, who is mistaken for Pedro, is married to Kit but is here with Mary. Leslie, who is also mistaken for Pedro, is here with Eve who's married to Sydney, but is mistaken for Maria, as is Mary.

But Leslie is actually pretending to be Sir Piers, who pretends to be Pedro, while Eve pretends to be his wife Amanda and married to Leslie. Celia who is Kit’s mother and thereby Henry’s mother-in-law and knows Amanda but not Sir Piers, is introduced to him as Leslie.

Alternatively, Pedro was once Leslie or was it Henry, but he's really Sir Piers and he's not here with Kit because he's married to Amanda who isn't here but is played by Eve who was Maria now played by Mary while Celia tries to wrestle with Hungarian.

In a nutshell, the play revolves around one timeshare apartment in Portugal, owned by Share-a-Lux, which has been double-booked by the eccentric Chittenden to two different parties. Unmarried couple Leslie and Eve are the first to arrive but their number seems to be up when the Charlesworth's - Henry and Mary turn up and claim supremacy over the apartment because they booked first.

However, things get fouled up for Henry when his mother-in-law Celia drops in, unexpectedly forcing Henry to admit he's not actually married to Mary at all but to Kit and we engage in an elaborate game of bluff involving golf, two absent domestic staff in Pedro and Maria, some Hungarian and Sir Piers.

Chitto is the myopic Share-a-Lux representative who could not run a bath, never mind this side of the operation, because of his extreme fondness for a drink and the more complicated and strange things get, the more old Chitto struggles to keep up.

It looks as though things might work out until the real Sir Piers arrives, followed by Kit. However, the final, hilarious disguises donned by Mary, Piers, Eve and Leslie might just save the day!
